OUR HISTORY

As a member of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa (FMSA) I am very happy to see the progress of Youth Alive Zimbabwe since its infancy in 1999.

Following an Education for Life workshop facilitated by Sr. Miriam Duggan, the founder of Youth Alive and her team from Uganda and Zambia, Youth Alive Zimbabwe was born.

I was so impressed by the concept of the Behaviour Change Model.  In Zimbabwe, this was something new, something different, a unique way of helping people to make responsible choices for their lives.  Behaviour Change and good behaviour sustainability was possible.  So with some of the participants who were also impressed and full of zeal, Youth Alive Zimbabwe began to reach out to many people and so the fire still burns today.

Youth Alive has grown from strength to strength down through the years.  Much of our success is due to the dedicated service of Youth Alive Staff, the willingness of participants to take part in programmes and to our DONORS who have truly supported us.

We at Youth Alive truly believe that we are making a difference, that we are assisting and educating young people, empowering them and helping them to develop their talents and make responsible life giving choices so that they can fulfill their dreams in life, living “Life to the Full” -  John 10:10.

I hope that Youth Alive will continue to meet the needs of young people from “generation to generation” and that we will continue to receive all the help and support that is required.  Our aim is to keep Youth Alive, ALIVE.
